Fondazione CRT, in collaboration with Università and Politecnico di Torino, offers 50 scholarships to participate in the second programme of AlfaClass Summer school, a 5-day event which will take place from September 7th to 11th , 2010. The curriculum will cover a wide range of topics, such as algebraic geometry, game theory, probability, differential equations, dynamic systems and much more. Classes will be facilitated by world-class teachers and researchers.

Introduction

Fondazione CRT, in collaboration with Università and Politecnico di Torino, offers scholarships to participate in the second programme of AlfaClass Summer school, a 5-day event which will take place from September 7th to 11th , 2010. The curriculum will cover a wide range of topics, such as algebraic geometry, game theory, probability, differential equations, dynamic systems and much more. Classes will be facilitated by world-class teachers and researchers.

Traditional lectures will be complemented by workshops and informal learning: AlfaClass aims at encouraging interaction among Università and Politecnico students, in order to enhance and reward their talents and unique excellence.
Alongside the scientific curriculum, the program will offer many social events and occasions for informal meetings, in the relaxing environment of a beautiful health Spa in Solonghello, on Piedmont hills.

The scholarship will be paid in full by Fondazione CRT and it covers tuition, learning materials and full accommodation in a hotel.

 

Who can apply for Scholarship

All freshmen in the academic year 2009/2010 enrolled in:

  • Università di Torino: Courses in Mathematics, Physics, Information Technology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Science of Materials (Facoltà di Scienze MFN).
  • Politecnico di Torino: all Courses of the Faculty of Engineering can apply for scholarship.

There are 50 available scholarships: 30 will be assigned to students of the Università di Torino: 20 to Politecnico students. 

 

How to apply

In order to qualify for one of the 50 available scholarships, applicants must fill in the registration form NO LATER THAN 01 April 2010.
The Scientific Committee of the Summer school will produce a merit list of the students who registered on line on the basis of: (a) the results of the mathematical and logic part of the admission test, (b) and/or the student’s university records.

Essential pre-requisites for admission to the Summer school are:

  • having achieved at least 15 CFUs (credits) with an average grade no lower than 27/30 (credits for foreign language exams are not to be considered)
  • no grade lower than 24/30

Credits must be obtained by 01 April 2010.

Economic support after the Summer school

Economic support for a total of 17,000,00 Euro will be awarded to by the Scientific Committee of the Summer school to students who participated in the Summer school. The Scholarships will be awarded on a merit basis.
